Always love your skin,

because we never get any younger.

Last month, I registered myself to a baking workshop because God knows how much I love baking.
Before I graduated from high school, I even have the thought of studying Culinary Arts because I love both dessert and baking.

Thank you Lennox Malaysia and The Butterfly Project for having me and this is definitely my pleasure to be able to join this Lennox baking workshop with their Collagen month. In this post, I will be sharing my experience with ABC Cooking Studio using the Lennox Collagen 5000 Powder. Also, I will be sharing a super easy Soufflé recipe with you guys. So keep reading. :)

To improve the look and overall health of the skin, people start to look for collagen supplements and it is true that taking collagen can collagen supplements can help t0 reduce the effects of ageing, such as by adding moisture to the skin, reducing wrinkles, and improving elasticity.

FirmUp+ (Bright) Collagen Drinks (For Whitening)

The FirmUp+ Collagen is newly upgraded with whitening essence and it is suitable for those who want fairer skin. Their unique powder + liquid formula ensures that total freshness and effectiveness of the ingredients are preserved.  Lennox has put the antioxidant in powder form because antioxidants in liquid form are easily oxidized even if they remain sealed and unopened.

The FirmUp+ is made from the Aqueous Marine Collagen and it is 100% water soluble with low molecular weight and excellent digestibility. Unlike Conventional Collagen which has a high molecular structure that will not easily dissolve completely, which made the Aqueous Marine Collagen able to be well-absorbed by the body. The addition of CoQ10 and Grape Seed Extract, a strong antioxidant, helps to protect skin from damaging UV rays that may cause ageing.

Besides that, it also contains Vitamin C, Arginine, Japan Khoyo Grapes Juice Concentrate, Potassium Sorbate and Water, that promised the following benefits:

Suggested Usage

First time user: Take 1 bottle daily at night for 10 days.
Repeat user: Take 1 bottle every 2-3 days at night.

FirmUp+ (Forte Gold) Collagen Drinks (For Hydration)

The FirmUp+ Forte Gold is formulated for those who desire to get noticeable improvement from their current skin condition to firmer and bouncy looking skin.

Repeat user: Take 1 bottle every 2-3 days at night.

It is packed with antioxidants such as Sakura Essence Extract and Grape Seed Extract to fight free radicals, and protect your skin from ageing.

For the ingredient, the main difference between the FirmUp+ (Bright) and FirmUp+ EX is that the FirmUp+ EX has Apple Stem Cell and Sakura Essence Extract that FirmUp+ doesn't have. The Apple Stem Cell is able to stimulate ageing skin stem cells and lessens wrinkles so that skin stays youthful-looking. While the Sakura Essence possesses whitening properties that help to lighten uneven skin pigmentation caused by UV rays.

Repeat user: Take 1 bottle every 2-3 days at night.

Just like the FirmUp+ Collagen, it is using the unique powder + liquid formula to preserve the freshness. This beauty drink is designed especially for men, who lead busy lives and are looking for a fuss-free skin regime that works. It is formulated together with powdered Cactus Extract and Maritime Pine Bark Extract to energise the skin cell and reduce excessive oil production – giving the instant result for firmer, brighter and healthy-looking skin.

Here I am with Zi Hang, who I know during the workshop. Can you believe that she is already a mom? I wonder how she keeps her beauty and looks young all the time. The secret must be somewhere in this post. 😏😏

Me with my table mates. The whole process of baking is super fun and our instructor is very nice and patience. He made sure all of us know what we are doing and explain to us why we have to do so, instead of the other way so that we can avoid the mistakes that most people usually did.

Have you thought of adding collagen in dessert?

Anyway, you can add Collagen 5000 Powder in any food/drinks that you want to enhance the nutrition of the dish. Since the collagen powder is specially designed to be easily mixed with other ingredients, it is possible to add it in the dessert!

ABC Cooking Studio is so creative that they have come out with a special recipe, adding the Lennox Collagen 5000 Powder into the recipe. Yeap, we are going to make our own Berry Soufflé Cheese, but it is not your usual Soufflé, as it is the "boink boink" Soufflé that will make your skin "boink boink". 😍

Sharing the secret recipe of the Berry Soufflé Cheese with you guys. Don't say I don't share ah! 😆
Here is all you will need to make a delicious, moist and soft Berry Soufflé Cheese. To be honest, the ingredients that you have to prepare are pretty easy and can be seen in the convenient store or baking supply store.

Without further ado, let's start baking!

Souffle cheesecake

First, mix the egg white with hand mixer. Then whisk until egg white clings to the blades of the hand before adding half of the sugar.

In the second picture, you can see that the egg white has reached its soft peaks form.
Add the remaining sugar and whisk till stiff peaks form, as shown as the third and forth picture.

When it has reached its peak form, it will actually hold on the bowl and nothing will actually leak from the bowl itself. Amazing huh? 😀

In another bowl, place cream cheese in it and whisk until creamy with a hand mixer.

Then, add sugar and mix well.

After that, pour in egg yolk in 2 additions and mix well each time.

Add milk and vanilla essence in 2 additions, mix well each time. Then add lemon juice and mix well.

Sift in cake flour and Lennox collagen. Mix with hand mixer at speed 1 gently for 1 minute.

Add the egg white into the cheese batter in 2 additions and use the batter to fold it well each time.
Do not stir it so that the souffle is soft and airy.

Last and not least, pour batter into the mould, place onto a tray and bake. Do not scrap the batter at the sides of the bowl to prevent the cake from sinking.

Bake it for 20-23minutes at 150-degree Celcius.
*Don't forget to check the oven to ensure it is well baked before removing it to cool.

Proud mama with her baby 😆

Berry Cheese Cream

While waiting for the souffle cheesecake to be done, let's start making the berry cheese cream.

                1. Place cream cheese in a bowl and whisk until creamy with hand mixer.
2. Add strawberry powder and sugar.
3. Mix well.
4. Add Lennox collagen into the mixture and mix well.

Add lemon juice and mix well.
Add whipping cream in 2 -3 additions.
Mix well each time.
Transfer into a piping bag once it is 80% stiff.

By the time you are done with the berry cheese cream, you will still have some time to clean the table and wait for the souffle to cool down.

Cut the tip of the piping bag with berry cheese cream and pipe on top of the souffle cake.
Top with raspberry and blueberry and garnish the souffle with pistachio.

And you're done!

I had a wonderful weekend, all thanks to The Butterfly Project and Lennox Malaysia for organising this Lennox Baking Workshop at ABC Cooking Studio. It is always good to start early to take care of your skin before it turns saggy and old. HAHA.

Any, I received a box of the FirmUp+ (Bright) Collagen Drinks and some Collagen 5000 Powder for me to try and let me tell you what I think about it.

What I think about the Firm Up+ (Bright) Collagen Drink

For the taste, I really love it because it has a strong grapes taste which is very delicious. It has a hint of souvery taste but not too much

As shown in the picture, you have to mix the powder that is provided into the bottle and shake it well before you drink it. The powder doesn't taste very good but surprisingly, it doesn't affect much to the drink. This is definitely a plus point because not every stuff that is good to your body taste bad. Unlike what the Chinese always say 良药苦口, meaning "good medicines often taste bitter", even though it is collagen and not medicine. HAHA

Left picture is taken in Day1, while the right one is taken on Day2 at the same spot after drinking the collagen. Since this is my first time taking Lennox Firm Up+ collagen drink, I took 1 bottle daily at night for 10 days then 1 bottle every 2-3 days at night as suggested. TBH, there is not much difference can be seen in just 2 days but I personally feel that after drinking the collagen, my face is brighter than before.

Result after taking the collagen drink for 10 days.
Left is taken in Day 1 and right is taken in Day10 at the same spot, at night. I used the same Iphone camera to take it, without any filter. As you can see, my skin tone is more on the dull and yellowish side, but it looks brighter on the left.

Dark circle is still pretty obvious cause of late sleep. Have been sleeping at 1-2am and waking up at 7am this few days. After drinking the collagen for 10 days, I feel that my skin complexion become better. However, I don't think it helps in acne skin and bumps.

Left is taken in Day 1 and right is taken in Day10 at the same spot, almost the same angle. It is obvious that the acne scar in my face has lightened but my acnes are still visible. The face is a bit glower but not too much. Hopefully consistent in consuming the collagen can result in an even better complexion of the skin. But first, I need to sleep early. :P

This photo was taken indoor.
I do feel that it does improve my makeup application because my face is hydrated and "boink boink".

This photo was taken outdoor with better lighting and all.
Thought that my makeup will cake or melt like ice cream, but surprisingly it stayed all day.
*phiuh* xD

What do you think? Does my skin look better than before? Or just like before?
Comment down below and let me know. :)

It’s crazy to think that everyone has Instagram on their phone and it has already changed the world in so many ways. You won't even believe that my parents play it everyday. It is very common to see a lot of beautiful photos through the photo-sharing app and besides ootd, people are starting to take photos of products. That is when "flat lay" came in and has become so popular now.

However, not everyone can take a nice flat lay. At least I can't, I am a sucker at taking flat lay. Fortunately, The Butterfly Project has organized a Flaylay Tea Party in collaboration with Flatlay Guru @azrin.aidil @_from_the_top who taught us how to take our flaylay life into another level.

If you want to take the quality of your images to the next level with flaylaying "how-to" and apps to edit your photographs, continue reading it then. I am going to share the ultimate flat lay photography tips that I have learnt with you guys. But before I share the tips with you all, let me talk a little bit about the workshop.

By Eros

The whole workshop is organised by The Butterfly Project. I am super grateful to be able to join this Flaylay Tea Party because I always struggle to take a nice flat lay. Despite that my sister always laughed at my work, I always want to level up my flatlay game.

Thank you teacher Azrin from From_the_top for having this class and bringing her props to the lessons. I am finally able to learn from the expert and know what had gone wrong.

By Eros

Look at the dessert table! Can't express how thankful I am for all this, as The Butterfly Project has sponsored our tea time from Delectable by Su. They are really delicious and tasty! Feeling blessed with people and food that I love. 💗

Of course, how can we leave out beautiful fresh flowers?
It is essentials to have flowers, no matter it is big or small, to embellish everything. It can be the filling in the flatlay to make it less empty and full. This time, we have Emi Goto from Avantgarde Blooms to pretty up the party and our flat lay

Tips: Fresh flowers always look better than fake flowers. And it's true!

Along with beautiful props, desserts, and flowers, we also have goodie bag with Althea's Exclusive products to bring home!

Thank you all for having me, and this workshop won't be a success without them.
Okay, without further ado, let's get started with the tips.

What is Flatlay?

It is an image taken straight down from the top. It is also a photo of a collection of items, highlighting only one object, which is placed on a flat surface. It involves the props and pieces to make the main focus pop out.

Look at all the props that Teacher Azrin has prepared for us!
To matched up to the theme of Tea Party, she got everything she has in her house here. I wish I have so many props for me to play along. They are super pretty and cute that I secretly wish to own them all. To be honest, props are my favourite part of the flay lay photography. They help to convey a story, and also bring energy and personality to the images.

Here is Teacher Azrin showing us how to take a flat lay. A flat lay must be taken straight from the top, which is also the angle of 90 degrees from the surface. It is said that a flat lay is no longer a flat lay if it is taken slanted.

To take a nice flatlay, firstly, you have to think of your "thing". You have to think of the highlight or the object that you want people to focus at.

After that, then only you can proceed to pick your background. If the theme of your "thing" is pink, it would be a little off to choose a pink background because it would hide the light and attention of the object.

Thirdly, which is the most exciting and fun part. Pop your props!
Pop some relevant props to your object. When I say relevant, it must be somehow related to the object. For an instant, if the object is a skincare product and it is made out of flowers, it would only be appropriate to put some flowers, instead of food.

Fourthly, Change and arrange.
It is important to experiment around and see which position is the best to bring out your object.

Teacher Azrin even demonstrated and showed us how everything really works, so that we can learn better.

As with your background, it’s also essential to get the lighting right when photographing a flay lay. Arrange your props in front of, or below, a window to fully benefit from the natural light.

Keep your flat lay simple and try not to add too many items inside. It might make everything looks very cramp and "can't breath". Sometimes, a little space in your flat lay might not be a bad thing.

Last but not least, have fun!

Learning from the expert when we are trying to make our own flat lay.
*Newbie in action*

What do you think of our work?
It took us quite some time for us to have this outcome though.

Oh, have I mentioned that the camera and editing are very important too?
I shoot this flat lay using iPhone 7 and I think the quality is not too bad (of course can't compare it with DSLR/ any canggih camera). However, it’s easy to work miracles with a phone because of the editing apps. I use Snapseed to adjust exposure, brightness, contrast and saturation; and apply filters on VSCO. Both apps are my favourite and I can't live without them. HAHA.

Introducing my groupmates for this workshop, Betty on the left and Aimi on the right.
Both of them are super friendly and easy-going person.

After our first assessment practice, we got to finally rest and enjoy the desserts.
Here is a simple flat lay that I took before they all went in my tummy. HEHE.

For the real assessment, which is also the highlight of this workshop, we were given 30 minutes to take a flat lay photo, with the Althea's megurine puff. It is where Teacher Azrin will evaluate our result and see if we learnt anything from this workshop.

This is created by me and my teammates. We made the rose as our main object and the megurine puff and cookie crumbles as the fillings. One of the mistakes we have made in this photo is that we have cut off the frame too much, making the words in the frame incomplete.

The winning team is Rawlins, Onie and Sally!
Congratulations guys! They really did very well and like what Teacher Azrin has mentioned, keep everything simple and neutral so that people won't lose focus on the main object.

Once again, thank you Teacher Azrin for passing her flat lay tips to us!
Love ya 💖

Thank you team for bringing this amazing workshop and I definitely enjoyed and learnt a lot.
