It is like a never ending topic for me, as I have already written so many posts regarding my life and thoughts studying abroad in Melbourne. I have written what I love about Australia, what I dislike and also what are the differences between the 2 countries and differences studying abroad and home.

Here is my highly requested questions after I shared my Melbourne videos on Youtube.
They asked me things about exchange student program and also what to expect studying abroad.
So, now let me share with you my experience from getting the offer letter from Monash Melbourne to what I feel about Melbourne. Also you can check my previous posts to know it better ;)

In most of my post, I have stated that I love Melbourne because it is a wonderful country.

But before you decide whether to study abroad, you have to make sure that you got your support to study oversea, regardless where the place is. Because the expenses that you will be facing is going to be more than what you have spent in your home. Also, your physical and mental health must be good to be capable to take care of yourself, face loneliness and settle everything by yourself.

There is a lot of steps and works to be done to study abroad. It was my first time going so far away from home and it was still like a dream for me. I have grown a lot in that 5 months and it was indeed the best 5 months last year. I have gone through a lot of things and it was a whole new experience, adventure for me. I appreciated every moments.

Every school's procedures are different and this is what my school need us to do.

First of all, you will have to attend the exchange/transfer briefing session to roughly know what you will need to do and stuff. It is compulsory to check the requirement for each faculty's to study oversea because the requirements differ for every faculty.

After knowing the requirement, we got the aboard application form from school and fill in our study plan. It is a SUPER important procedure, as the unit that we choose for the semester cannot be changed. We have to check whether the units are available over the campus that you're going to study over there. Make sure to apply it 1 semester ahead.

After that I received my Student Acceptance Form Intercampus Exchange from Monash Abroad Staff. Before you receive you Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) to study oversea, you will have to buy the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which is different from your travel insurance.
I sent my Acceptance Form and OSHC receipt back within 7 days,
so that they can issue my COE. I bought my 1 semester OSHC for AUD412 at that time.

After my COE is issued, I used my COE code to buy my Higher Education Sector visa (subclass 573), which is AUD 556. I heard my friend said that they are no longer using subclass 573, so it is better to follow the subclass that your school asked for.

I went to body checkup (RM250), as the visa required.
After the visa is approved, it is time to to travel insurance (I bought AIG- RM388), flight ticket that my school provided. I sat Emirates to Mel and Mars back and it cost me RM2760.

After all the above things are settled, then only find rental. I used websites like gumtree and flatmates. I believe that your school might help you if you can't get a rental, or you can as well just stay in campus.

Last but not least, confirm the units that you are going to enroll and make sure you paid your school fees before you off. For my school, they helped us to enroll the units that I have applied at the first place. So it is really important to know what to take at the first place. I paid my school fees in MYR because I am still considered as Malaysia student, and I am just exchanging to Australia for 1 semester. For those who are transferred to there, they have to pay their fees in AUD.

Before you leave home,
It is important to get an airport pickup, in case there is no taxi on your arrival. Monash prepared Allied Car for us, which is really thoughtful.
Download the apps that are useful for you when you reached the country.

At your arrival, it is important to get a local number and bank account and Public Transport card.

Let me share with you what to expect in Melbourne, a really wonderful country. It is really common to know that Melbourne has a very relaxing lifestyle. Shops close very early, transport is very convenient and people are very friendly as well.

You do not have to worry about the food, because you can find numerous cuisine in the city, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai food, all ranged from $15-30. Of course, most of the foods in Melbourne are super nice. You can simply hop into any restaurant. If you want to save money, it is better to cook at home. There are supermarkets, such as Coles and Woolworths, everywhere. If you wish to get some Chinese groceries, you can head to HongKong Mart, which is located near Clayton station.

I spent around $10k + for the 5 months, including traveling around. You can consider working part time over there as the pay is pretty attractive.

BTW, if you are coming back earlier before your OSHC expired, please go and request a refund from them :) You will eventually get back $100+ of refund.
And also, don't forget to close your bank account :)

Hopefully this will be helpful and give a rough guide for those who are applying to go Australia study like me :)

Love,
CLYL.

Hi bunnies! Here is my late Chinese New Year Lookbook for 2017!
I made a CNY Lookbook last year and I feel

I still wear skirt, skort, off-shoulder top and BKK bag !

So now let me show you guys what I have wore for chor1 to chor3!

Chor 1

Matching my dusty pink chiffon top with a skirt.

details:

Look at that cute little pearl hanging on the zip of the skirt.
I feel that it is pretty cute and the other reason I bought this skirt is because it has 2 pockets !

Chor 2

Matching my strips off-shoulder top with a cross strings skort
and a BKK bag !

Since my outfit is a little dull for Chinese New Year, I decided to put a red lipstick and a bright pink bag to bring in some good luck :)

details

Wearing the same heels for all 3 days. ;)

Chor 3

Matching a navy blue off shoulder, with maroon skort and a gold BKK bag !

details:

My shoulder is a bit wide, so I wore a heart shape necklace to distract people from focusing on my shoulder ;)

Good technic huh?

Living in Australia is so different compared to living in Malaysia.
Besides the weather and the people over there, I really love what Melbourne (living alone) has transformed me into another person (a better one, I assumed).
I think I have grown up a little, even my friends said that I still look and act the same way.

Few days ago, my mom asked me, if she let me choose again, will I still go oversea,
even when I know that I will gained a lot of weight?
(Yes, I gained around 5kg in 5months, which is INSANE!)

Of course, my answer is definitely a YES. I will still go oversea even though I know that I will gained like 5kg and all my shorts can't be wear anymore :(

I still miss the life in Melbourne though. I even asked my mom whether I can transfer.
Because deep inside me, I know that I will still come back.
So, I don't miss home. It's like I am traveling to Melbourne for a few months and after that I will come home, and it will always there waiting for my back

Sometimes, I isolate myself.
I feel that I have an old soul, like I have seen the world for a thousand years and I feel tired of the world. I tend to ignore the world because I enjoy staying in my safe zone.

But sometimes, I am like a crazy teenager.
I am brave and I have no worry at all. I do crazy stuff, like no one is watching at me.
But after the craziness, I am in my safe zone again.

Studying oversea, really can change a person.
I  feel that I have more tolerant for drama people.
I love watching drama, but it is kind of tired to deal with it.

I learnt a lot from the past 5 months.
5 months is not a very short period but it is long enough to change a person.

I am lucky enough to have my family and friends to support me.
When I am sad or frustrated, they are always the one who stand by my side.
I am really grateful to have them, and makes me think that I am not alone.

What Australia make me into?

I became braver and stronger.

I became more independent.

I became more grateful.

I appreciate those who still stay beside me.

I miss driving.

I appreciate what I have.

I miss the spider-free place.

Home is always the most comfortable place.

Thanks for reading :)

Valentine's Day, a day for valentines.

For those who doesn't have valentines, like me (ahem, yea I am still single) will have to wear shades day and night because the moment we stepped out, we will be shined by the loving couples.

It's also moment where we can find out like who is single or in a relationship.

In a relationship, there is always ups and downs.
There is no such thing as forever love or forever sadness.
I have surrounded by a lot of people, who are in a relationship for my whole life.
Which made me think that it is untrue when people said that they don't look forward to be in a relationship, unless they have been hurt many times.

There is also people who keep wanting to be in a relationship, regardless how many relationship they have gone through. My sister told me that she had a friend, who has a boyfriend since secondary school and since then, she is never single. Not that she didn't change boyfriend, but she changed every year. Sometimes, she's the one who say break up; sometimes, it's the guy who say it.
She is serious in every relationships, but she always change her partner after a period of time.

To be honest, after hearing the story, I feel that she is not serious in every of her relationship at all.
She is just a lonely soul, who can't stand loneliness. It is really pathetic when one wants to find her partner, not because she love her partner genuinely, but because she's lonely and she wants one.
Also, there is also people who don't know how to reject people, that's why they are never single.

Oh well, who am I to judge people's life.

Being a bystander, I have seen a lot of stories in real life.
I think I can be a love teacher soon.

J is a girl who has been in a relationship with her bf since her secondary school life. She rarely show off her bf, and only those who are close with her know it. Her bf went oversea study. She wrote down all her thoughts, her reluctant because it's their first time going to apart for a few years. They're really sweet in a lot of people's eyes and we know that he will be back one day.

Yesterday, I asked my friend what are they going to do in Valentine's Day.
She said that she can't celebrate with him because he's studying in Perak. She did not show any sadness on her face, because she knows that he will always in her heart no matter where he goes. I have seen how they have fight for their relationship because of their races. They don't give up easily, which make me think that their love is beautiful.

There is so many love stories in the world and it is impossible for me to state them out.
What I have learnt from them is that

True love is all about patient and loyal <3

Every day can be Valentine's day as long as you appreciate each others appearance :)

Happy Valentine's Day people !

Love,
CLYL.

Studying abroad is always one of my dreams. I wanted to show that I am capable to do things by myself.
Indeed, it is more challenging than studying in your home country. Besides all the house cores, you will also need to get used to the culture, the food, the people over there.

You will have to deal with the difference, besides that let me tell you what is so different studying in Monash Australia and Malaysia.

1. Activities

Monash Australia has more events and activities in school. There is so many free food and fun activities that I can join compared to Monash Malaysia. Check out what I did in Student Survival Week and Stress Less Week that MONSU organised :)

I am really glad that I have volunteered myself to join the voluntary work that MONSU is holding. The experiences that I have gained are so priceless and I hope that Monash Malaysia will have this kind voluntary work. Joining the work, I got to meet a lof of people from different country, and I also got to learn how an organisation/ activities work. I believe that this will definitely somehow helped me in my future.

2. Culture

The accent ! It actually got me some time to use to their accent. I know that different countries have their own different accents, and of course, Malaysians have their own unique accent and slang that only Malaysians will understand.

The teaching method is almost the same as what I learnt in Malaysia. I am not sure about other universities, but the teaching method in Monash Australia is same as Monash Malaysia. There might be some differences in the teaching materials, but the way they bring things up and assign assignments are almost the same. There's an Australian tutor, where I always have to pay extra attention on what he's talking about. After a few classes with him, I actually got used to his accent and everything turned out good to me.

3. People

What I am really surprised is that there's A LOT of ASIANS in Monash University Caulfield campus, including Chinese, Malaysian and South African ! I always have a dream of studying at western country, surrounded by the white people. But the reality is, still surrounded by the Asians. xD

To my surprise, some of them have stayed in Australia for a few years and they have already adapted to the culture. Some of the the Chinese even speak better English than me, with the Australian accent! So, don't judge people by their look and think that they can only speak good mandarin. There is also people who speaks mandarin wherever they go. I have met some of them, thought that I came from China as well, because of the way I look. But after knowing me, they're surprised because being a Malaysian, we know more than 3 languages, including dialects.

I must say, it is pretty awesome to be surrounded by all kind of people.

4. Weather

Seasons. Even when the forecast weather said that it will be sunny the whole day. You still have to bring jacket out because you don't know when the wind is coming ! People normally wear jackets in the lecture (what Malaysian always do) because the air-cond is pretty strong.

But guess what ? People take off their jacket when they're in lecture hall in Australia! There is no aircond in lecture hall Monash Aus during winter and spring (I am not sure about autumn), but it is cozy. Out the lecture hall, it will be chilly and freezing if you don't wear jackets.

Their spring is almost the same as their winter some days. Maybe a little better in spring.

Before Chinese New year, I bought some beauty products from Hermo.
After using the products a few times, I decided to write a review regarding the products that I have bought from Hermo, as my friend requested.

Without further due, let's get it started ! (Ps Some photos are taken from Hermo's website)

The first thing that I have bought from Hermo is the Peri Pera's Ink Mini Set Girl's Cabinet. This is the first lip tint that I have owned, and I must say that I am pretty satisfy with the color paid out as well as the long lasting color. This set of lip tint includes the complete Peri's ink (Ink Original, Ink Moist, Ink the Velvet), coming with a complimentary cute stickers to decorate the tin case.

The texture for Ink the Original is pretty watery, and I feel that it is harder to apply compared to the others. I personally love Ink the Moist the most because it doesn't make my lips dry at all ! I didn't expect lip tint to be so moisture and long lasting ! Ink the Velvet is not as matt as I expected but it is not sticky at all, leaving a very natural lips texture for me. I used liquid lipstick before and I don't really like the texture, even though it's pretty lasting. To be honest, I feel that 3 of the red colors are quite same and I love 3 of them very much !

Swatching the colors on my hand

After letting the color diffused for a few second, I pressed out some of the excess products on the tissue. Normally, I just allow it to dry on its own.

After washing it under the water. Surprisingly the color Ink the Moist came out the most :o

Rate: 8/10 (I actually tried the Lilac Pink yesterday and the color is so cute! Love it <3. Just a little disappointing on the after result of Ink Moist. But overall, the colors paid off quite well.

I have used this Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid for a few times and I think that it's pretty gentle ! Even though it said that it is better to build it up day by day, I feel that it is still safe for those who have sensitive skin. I do not have sensitive skin, so the product doesn't bother me at all. Of course, it might defer for other people.

I often get whitehead and blackhead around my forehead, nose and mouth area. I do not feel any big difference on my skin even though I have used it a few times. This might caused by the inconsistency, as I skipped a few days when I was back in hometown. But what really surprised me is that it does soften my skin, which make it easier to remove dead skin, and whiteheads. What I really amazed is it that it makes me so easy to squeeze my blackhead out !

I will definitely use it more often and consistent to see whether it works for my skin or no.
But so far so good. :)

The texture is watery, and I only applied a small amount on specific areas of my face.
It turned out to be a bit sticky, but it doesn't really matter to me.

Rate : 5/10

Bought this Beauty People Miss 100 Super Waterproof Gel Eyeliner because it's on promo and I got attracted by the packaging. This is actually a gel eyeliner but I used it as eyeshadow. The colour is so pretty that I used it everyday during CNY ! Coral colour is going to be one of my favourite colour from now on and I am glass that I have found the perfect shades !

The pencil is very smooth and easy to apply and blend. I can use it for eyeliner, eyeshadow, inner corner as well. What really amazed me is that it is come with a sharpener ! I do not have to worry when I face a blunt tips anymore :)

Color on my hand. It's a peachy, rose gold kind of color.

Used it for my CNY look too (with the Play101 eyeliner)

Rate: 8/10

Has been wanting this Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder because one of my friends loves this very much. She normally get oily skin after going out the whole day. But after using it, she doesn't have the problem now ! Of course, the face does become a little oily after a long day, but it does improve her skin condition, as she no longer have to face a super oily and bling face.

One of my must go cosmetic when I makeup now! Before this, I was using a loose powder that is not translucent and sometimes I tends to applied too much, causing my makeup to be super cakey. This translucent powder has totally changed my life. I no longer have to worry that my makeup will be oily or cakey. Further more, it is so effective, that a little goes a long way.

Rate: 9/10 !

Etude House Play 101 Pencil is also one of my favourites ! Like what the others say, it doesn't smudge at all ! The coloured that I bought is in the shade of 50. I always encounter eyeliner that smudge after going out in a sunny day. I tried this product during CNY, and I am really surprised with the outcome. I am not sure whether it is because of the Innisfree No Sebum Powder that controls my oily lids or it really works.

It is easy to apply, and I have no regret buying it. It doesn't give a very sharp line like what the liquid eyeliner does, but it still does its work on giving me a very soft looking eyeliner !

Tried to remove them under the water after rubbing it for a few times.
No disappointment at all !

Rate: 8/10

The total damage that I have made is Rm169, where in the market, it will cost me more than that !
I am really grateful that I have purchased them in Hermo, a trustworthy website !
What I love Hermo so much is their service ! They reply you instantly, within 24 hours and the parcel reach my home doorstep in 1-3 working days ! Like serious, love their service !

Hope you guys enjoy reading and I will see you guys in my next post ;D

Last month, I found out this cafe in Facebook.
The cafe has already opened for almost a year, so I do not consider it as a newly open cafe.
I got attracted by their green tea Lava + Greenhouse ice cream,
which is the reason why I pay a visit to the cafe.

The cafe is decorated in sailor theme.

In their Facebook, I found out why is the cafe named Ahoy.
It says that Ahoy means a nautical or pirate lingo and is a term used to attract attention or say hello when boarding or abroad a boat. When you are going to board a ship and want to say hello to someone on the ship using traditional nautical lingo, this is when you can say Ahoy

Stepping in the cafe, you will realize that there is this big mirror on the side and a sailing photo on the other side. The  moment you stepped in the cafe, you will be surrounded by the nautical theme, imagining that you're boarding on a ship to somewhere.

Inside, I can feel that the owner of Ahoy Cafe has intentionally decorated it at its best.
The place is decorated in a very comfortable way, making me to stay there a little longer.

Ahoy serves a huge range from breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner to desserts and drinks.
There is so many choices to choose but I decided to try their desserts and drinks at the moment.

Passion Berry Yogurt Smoothie (RM12)

The smoothie is really nice, with sweet berry taste.
But the ice is not well blended, as I still can feel there's ice cubes in it.

Pango Yogurt Smoothie (RM12)

There is some mango cubes on the top of the smoothie, which make the smoothie really nice.
The combination of sweet and sour is always the best.

Hot Green Tea Latte (RM11)

The Matcha latte is pretty good. But I feel that it can be better if the Matcha taste is stronger <3
When you're a matcha lover, you love everything that is matcha !

Matcha Angel Falls (Rm24.90)

The recent very popular dessert "my heart flow garden Angel Falls". There is 2 flavours for the Lave cake, which is Matcha and Chocolate. In the circular glass aquarium, there is ice cream and some flowers arranged around it, which make it looks like a greenhouse.

The Lava is very soft, and after cutting it into half, a thick green tea will fall into the garden directly, making the scene very beautiful. I must say this is one of the best Matcha dessert that I have tasted.
The Matcha taste is very thick and strong, which is really satisfying.

Photo with my Lava, before I cut it into half.

Overall, I am pretty satisfy with their desserts. If you're looking for a cool place to chill out and relax with your friends, you can consider Ahoy Cafe.

Thanks for reading !

Love,
CLYL.
