2017 is the year of Roaster.
How time passed so fast like a lighting bolt.

2016 has been a pretty hectic year for me.
I still can remember that Chinese New Year always come in February.
But this year, CNY came early join the end of January.

CNY vibes is everywhere now.
I can hear a lot of people are talking about CNY, cookies are everywhere,
CNY songs can be heard from everywhere.

I don't understand why some people can't stand CNY songs, when the radio or mall is playing the song.
They're Chinese and they're refrain to support the songs.
Some of the CNY songs can be as good as Christmas songs!

So, like what I said, the festive is around the corner and everyone seems to be so excited to
celebrate CNY with their family and relatives. It is a great idea to
reunite with all of our long distance relatives at our home town.

Chinese New Year is different every year.
The feeling of CNY changes every year.

I do not know why and I can't specifically tell you how I feel.
I just feel differently, follows by different stages of growth every year.
It might because of the way I think changes.

When I was younger, I love CNY. Of course I love CNY now too.
It's just that the feelings are different.

I used to visit my relatives everyday when I was in hometown.
Our houses are just besides each other and we as kids, have nothing to do in the house
(No Wifi, no TV, nothing), so we always go out to play with our cousins.
There was a palm oil farm at the back of our houses and we always go there for an "adventure".
It was a great memories for us.

Now, as we are growing up, we don't go for an "adventure" anymore.
We stayed at our house and chit chat, or gamble.
Sometimes, we followed our parents to visit our relatives or invite them to our house to gamble.

After the death of my grandfather, there is more of the older generation uncles passing away.
I feel really sad about that, but of course there comes a new generation.
Some of our cousins has already married, some has given birth to new babies, and so on.

My grandmother comes to KL to stay with my uncle and no one is staying at there right now. We went back there once a year, and the cleaning part is always one of the hardest part for us.
Can you imagine how dirty the place will be without anyone staying there for a year?

This has lead our parents to think to travel when CNY.
The older we get, the tradition of going back hometown and celebrate together will be gone.
No one is willing to take the trouble to clean the house and drive a long journey back.

By the time I become a parent, will I still close with my cousins ?
I wonder.

Oh Well, this shouldn't be a sad post, but it seems that it is leading toward that direction :o
I should stop my post here, incase it goes wrong and destroy the mood of CNY.

Before that thing happen, I am going to appreciate every Chinese New Year with my grandma, families and relatives.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR PEOPLE !

Have a great year and Chinese New year ahead :)

Love,
CLYL.

Guess I have already stated some of the differences between Malaysia and Australia in my previous two posts, What I love about Australia and What I dislike about Australia.

Besides the time difference and culture, now,
I am going to state some of the other differences that I have noticed in Melbourne.

1. Road

Can you believe that there is zebra crossing in highway ? Most of the people in Australia do not drive as the government encourage people to use public transport. So, it is pretty common that everywhere has zebra crossing for pedestrians to pass.

What I feel really amazed is that all the drivers stop in front of the zebra crossing when they see someone wants to cross the road, as some of the zebra crossing do not have traffic light. There is once when I wanted to cross the road and at the same time, there is this driver coming. My intuition told me to stop and let the car go first. But the driver just stopped in front of the zebra crossing and waved at me, asking me to pass by ! This is really amazing!

In Malaysia, you hardly get this kind of attitude. People always drive even faster when they saw people want to pass by. They just won't stop for you to go first. In Malaysia, you better watch out the cars. There's so many dangerous drivers on the road. Also, in Malaysia, everything is inconvenient when it comes to public transportation. It's really common that most of the college rich kids (not saying myself) own a car.

2. Cafe

I believe that people who have gone to Australia, think that the cafes in Australia are better than Malaysia. This is true, even though some of the cafes are quite pricy and the waiting list is extremely long. Normally people will stand in a line and wait for their turn to be served to their seats.

Guess what ! In Melbourne, we don't have to line up ! Of course, we don't cut line because we reserved our place by giving our name to the "front door girl".
You can hardly find a line outside the cafe. People just stand everywhere, waiting for the front-door-girl to call out their names. It is pretty amazing because we do not have to stand at the same spot for 30minutes !

So, make sure you give your name to the front-door-girl and not line up in front of the cafe. There is once when we thought people who came later cut our line. While the truth is, they gave their name earlier before we came and then just leave and came back again on time.

3. Toilet

Fun fact: This photo is taken infront of the toilet

Now, let's talk about the toilets in Melbourne. You guys might think that the toilets are the same in every countries. NO !

Every toilets in Melbourne are toilet bowl (aka seated toilet) and you hardly see a squad toilet in the public or houses. Further more, it is really normal to have a pipe in the toilet in Malaysia, while in Australia, you can never find a pipe. From what I know, this is because the Malays wash their sanitary pad before they throw them away. There is also people who don't like to use tissue to wipe their butt, so they use pipe water to wash.

Also, most of the toilet in Australia have to be flushed in a few seconds. Meaning, we have to press the flush button and hold it for a few second for the water to flush the shit/pee away. While in Malaysia, one press, that's it. There is pro and con for it; pro is that it saves water, while con is that when you are in a hurry, you have to spend another more second pressing the flush button and look at your excreta. In a higher technology, there is also flush that is free touch. BOOM ! That was my reaction when I saw it. :P

Forever, there is tissue in every toilets in Melbourne ! What is greater is that you do not have to pay to go in the toilet ! Have you ever come to a basin that has both function to wash your hand and dry them? At least, I saw it in Melbourne ! It was so magical. Now,  you know why I love Melbourne so much, including their toilet. xD

4. Weather

The weather in Australia is always unpredictable. I have to check the weather forecast before I go out, to make sure that I wear the right outfits. Even though there is times where the forecast is wrong, there is times when it forecast the weather correctly. Weather there can change within an hour. It can be sunny in the day and rain the whole night. I will get sunburn in the day and either freeze to death in the night or in the rainy days.

In Malaysia, the weather forecast is kind of useless to me because the weather is always humid and hot. I wear shorts everyday, even it's rainy days.

So, I think that is enough for this post.
Thanks for reading !

Cheryl in Melbourne #41 | vlog | Grampian National Park

Friends and I went to Grampian National Park. We actually planned to go to Halls gap. But due to lack of time, we did not make it.

Even though I got scolded by my mom for risking my life to take the photo on the cliff,
I did not regret at all :P We still have a lot of fun at Grampian though.

Cheryl in Melbourne #43 | vlog | Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium

Few days ago, I won myself a pair of TGV Indulge movie ticket from TGV INDULGE
and Number76 Salon. Thank you Number76 and TGV INDULGE
for choosing me and send me the tickets as my Christmas present !
It is my pleasure to be able to have a luxurious experience in the cinema.

Out of curiosity, I checked the price of the ticket.
It gave me a shock of my life as the price ticket is 4-5 times more expensive
than the normal movie ticket that I can get in the cinema !

Without further due, let me show you guys how tgv indulge is different from the normal cinema that most of us go.

Gone are the days when cinemas were just a screening theater. INDULGE, a name hat truly befits the essence of a fine life, lives up to its promise of creating and delivering unrivaled cinematic dining experiences.

Entering INDULGE, there is this lounge that surrounded with romantic and high-classed atmosphere.
Everything seems so luxury and relax.

Designed to be more than just a cinema, TGV unveied INDULGE, he first luxury cinema in 1 Utama, home to two exclusive cinema halls fitted with reclining chairs, comforter blankets and personalized call-waiter-service as well as sumptuous menu of culinary delights, that can only accommodate 32 and 40 guests respectively.

INDULGE aims to transcend the borders of ordinary cinema and take the discerning movie goer to a world where imagination meets luxury and style.

To be honest, I had a really great experience with TGV Indulge.
I am really glad that I have given the chance to experience it.

BTW, the movie that we have watched is "Arrival"

This movie takes place after alien crafts land around the world. The main character is an expert linguist and she is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.

I didn't expect much for this movie after watching the trailer, but surprisingly,
it is a pretty good movie.

So, that's all for this post, hope you enjoy reading it.

Bye~

After writing what I love about Australia, now it's time for me to write what I hate
about Australia.Australia has been a really lovely country for me.
There is a love hate relationship for me toward the place.

Now, let me tell you what I dislike about Australia.

1. Summer

The sun is scorching ! Even though Malaysia is a country that summer all day every day, I can feel that the sun is much more stronger in Australia. I literally can feel the burning sensation when my skin exposed to the sun. I am now the tannest one in my family, even tanner than my younger sister, who played volleyball in school.

2. Spiders !

Spiders are everywhere ! Literally everywhere. Sometimes you can see the spider hanging in the air or in the bathroom when you are taking a bath. And it's so common to see cobwebs every corner of the house. I am not sure whether is it because I am staying in an old house. I freaked out when I see one.

Despite our landlord said that it's pretty common for us to see spiders around the house, I still freaked out when I see one. Those spiders are harmless, but sometimes I will think that will I become a spider woman ? Like what if the spider has bitten me when I was sleeping?

3. Shops closed too early

This is bad! We can not shop as late as we want and most of the shops just closed at 5pm ! We can't have our late dinner or even supper :( So sad! We as a student, sometimes have our late class until 4pm and it is impossible for us to travel for one hour to the city for dinner or shop. So I found that the shops and restaurant closed too early, which made us not having enough time to shop.

In Malaysia, it is pretty normal to see people came out for supper and gather around at the Mamak in the late night. Most of the mamak in Malaysia either open until really late or open 24 hours.

4. High cost of living

In a lot of ways, Australians are very lucky. They live in a safe country with great services and high quality of living. But for getting that, Australians will have to pay a relatively high price to maintain it. Not saying that the rental is expensive, having lunch or dinner outside is also one of the luxury act in Australia.

When I told my parents that my rental is $204, they were like oh okay, per month ah? The truth is, it is PER WEEK ! My parents said that they used to live in a rent room for RM300+. So when they knew that it is $800+ for a month, they have a shock of their life. Of course, having meals at home is always cheaper because you have to pay $5+ for the transportation and $20+ for the food for each meal, having outside.

Jasper Coffee

I actually pretty enjoy my coffee in Jasper Coffee. It smells very good and the coffee bean is a bit sour. What I really like about Jasper Coffee is that I got to choose the coffee bean for my coffee.

Staffs are really friendly and the place is just perfect for those who want to rest after a long day of shopping. They also provide cakes, but unfortunately I didn't get to try it.

Thanks for reading !

Tasmania Travel Vlog #37 | Mt Wellington | Russell Fall

I went to Tasmania with a bunch of friends and we were staying in a very nice and cosy
  Airbnb house [Woodhurst Delight]

The scenery in Tasmania is breath taking ! The views might just look normal and nothing really special, but what our eyes captured are far more pretty than what is in my camera ! Really glad that I went there !

Tasmania Travel Vlog #38 | Bruny Island

The next day, we went to Bruny Island. We paid for the vehicle ferry to Bruny Island. So if you planned to go there, make sure you check their departing timetable, so that you would not miss it.
Surprise surprise, we did not expect that there is so many thing that we can do in a small island.

Tasmania Travel Vlog #39 | Wineglass Bay | Hazard Beach

I feel that Hazard Beach is one of the most beautiful beach I have ever gone !
The sea water is so blue and clear that I thought it is drinkable water for a second.
We took around 30 minutes to the beach from Wineglass Bay and all the hard works are totally worth.
Despite got some love bites from the mosquitoes and annoyed by the flies on our way there,
I totally fall in love with the place.

Tasmania Travel Vlog #40 | Salamanca Market | Royal Tasmania Botanical Garden

To know my Tasmania Travel Itinerary, please head to my blogpost !

2016 has been a pretty hard year for me.

No pain no gain right?

It's the year where my confidence is at its lowest. I feel that I am not good enough.
I am lost on the way becoming a better me.
It's also the year where I stepped into the start of 20th.
I felt clueless and wondered what it is like to be an adult.
I am always immature and a childish kid in a lot of people's eyes.
I tried to change myself, and their way of thinking.
But do I succeed? I am not sure.

UNDENIABLE, I did have some good times last year.

I have my blessed 20th birthday.
Thanks to all my friends and family who are willing to stay by my side no matter what happened.

I am lucky enough to study in Melbourne and I really appreciate the chance that I have given.
I feel really grateful that I have met good friends who are willing to tolerate me, without leaving me, even though I acted like a retard sometimes.

I always think that I have learnt nothing until one of my friends stepped out and talked with me.
I appreciated her effort :) Really.

I started to vlog more ! Like a more frequent kind of daily vlog in Melbourne.
It helped to boost my confident and I felt that I am not as helpless as I used to be.

Last thing that made me feel that 2016 is not that bad overall is Christmas. I celebrated Christmas with a bunch of my friends and it is one of the best days after I came back to Malaysia.

There is high and down in 2016 and I thank all the good and bad that I have gone through.
It makes me a better person and a stronger Cheryl.

Thanks for reading and Happy New Year :)

Love,
CLYL.
