Even though I only stayed in Australia for a few months, I am already in love with the beautiful country. Travelling/ Study oversea in Australia has been one of my dream and I can't believe that I made it ! All thanks to my parents <3

My mom once asked me if I am given a chance again, will I go back to Australia?
My answer was a YES ! I really love Australia, and let me tell you why I love the place so much.

1. Food !

Definitely one of the main reason I love about Australia. The quality of food in Australia is definitely higher than Malaysia. They are not stingy about the ingredients at all ! The portion is always big and there is always so many ingredients in one bowl. For example, the prawns and meat are always bigger and more in Australia, compared to Malaysia.

Most of their brunch and coffee are so nice. Good cafes are almost everywhere. ALSO, if you don't compare the exchange rate, coffee in Australia is cheaper. I can get $4-$5 of coffee in Australia while I will need to pay Rm12 for a cup of coffee in Malaysia.

Check out some of my favourite food place in Melbourne

2. Convenient

I sit public transport to every places. It's so convenient that I don't have to drive on my own (even though I miss driving) and don't even need a car wherever I go, like I used to be in Malaysia. Instead, it is harder to find a parking in Mel city and the parking fees are not cheap. I can access to anywhere, with my PTV card (public transport card) and the PTV app.

Not only their public transport is convenient, the way we pay our things are even more convenient. I literally can go out only with my phone and my PTV card. I can pay by using my phone, and it is not a trend to pay in cash in Australia.

I know it might be a bad idea to pay using card, but it's debit card. So you must have money on your card in order to make payment. So, it is not like spending on "transparent" money (credit card), where you have to pay back the bank later.

3. People

Most of the Australians who I met are so friendly.  They greet everyone randomly, starting from a "good morning" , "How are you" even when they don't know each other. Since I did not drive over there, I sit the public transport everyday.

There was one day when I sit the bus to school, the bus driver just said, "Hi, morning"  to me. I didn't know why, but this made my day. And the people there are so polite, that they always thank the driver, even when they have to pay for the bus ride. When you thank them, sometimes the driver will even say "Have a nice day".

I really like this kind of culture, where they don't feel awkward and are always so helpful. There is also one time, when I was going to the city with my friends. We actually didn't know which train to sit. And then, there was this lady, who came up to us and helped us ! We didn't even asked, but she just came up to us as she saw us having problems.

This is how friendly they can be, and I am only stating some of the examples.

4. Currency

Their currency is so high. Okay, maybe not very high, but it's higher than Malaysia ! Further more, Malaysia is in inflation now, which mean that everything are expensive.

If you don't convert, their things are actually pretty cheap, like what my friend always says. For an example, a plate of sashimi sushi in Australia is $8.80. I can only eat sushi on special occasion back in Malaysia, but now, I eat sushi every week, because it's the cheapest thing that I can get in school, except sandwich.

I always wonder, what if I earn Australia dollar, and not Malaysia ringgit. Coffee is Rm10-12 back in Malaysia, sushi is Rm 15-30 for a meal. If you don't convert, things in Australia are actually quite cheap. Clothes also, like cotton on, it's only $20 in Australia, but RM60 in Malaysia. If I earn Australia dollar, I can buy 3 clothes already.

5. Safety / Environment

Surely, Australia is a safer country compared to Malaysia. I do not have to worry if I came home late when I was staying in Melbourne. I do not have to worry that someone will snatch my thing or pick pocket. I feel that it is a really safe country.

The clean environment, where I hardly find rubbish in the street. I really love the recycle campaign that they are having right now. Every houses have their own recycle bin and the truck will come in every two weeks to collect the items.

Their stressless lifestyle is also one of my favorite thing in Australia. The good chilly weather always make me feel good. Probably because I leave Australia in Summer, so I have not encounter the hottest few days in Melbourne.

I love Australia this country, but it is not my home country. My home country will always be Malaysia, where my families are. Despite I love Australia so much, I will never leave Malaysia, for some good reasons. Malaysia is where I come from and I will always back no matter what :)

Thanks for reading.

Cheryl in Melbourne #35 | vlog | Playing makeup in Sephora and Mecca Maxima

Hi, I am Cheryl and I am Malaysian. I vlog random stuff on my channel :)

In this video, as the title said, friend and I went to Sephora and Mecca Maxima to play their makeup.
We always go to Chadstone without much makeup and come back with a full makeup xD
Girls being girls. Thank you B for always being so understandable and patient waiting outside the store for us :P

Cheryl in Melbourne #36 | vlog | Throwback to day in Chadstone

This video was taken back in 15th October. I kind of messed up my videos and thought that it was taken in 15th November. So yeah, here is the throwback video, days after #32, before #33.

Friends and I were so excited when we know that there will be a lot of new stores going to open in Chadstone, which mean that we no longer need to travel all the way to city to visit the stores like H&M, Uniqlo, Sephora, Nene Chicken, Axil Roaster Coffee and MORE !

Hope you guys enjoy watching it and I will see you guys next time.

Merry Christmas guys !

What I really love about Christmas is when you got to listen to the Christmas song all the time, either on the radio or street. It's Christmas spirit ! It never die and of course, I hope that it will never die.

Besides that, I also love Christmas because it is public holiday !
Who does not love public holiday?
When it is public holiday, I got to meet my friends because it is the only time where all of us are free.

This year, I did something different.
Hmm it seems like I have different kind of Christmas every year :P

I celebrated Christmas with my secondary school friends, who I have known for more than 4 years.
We finally got to meet each other again after half an year, on Christmas ! :D

We talked a lot and also exchanged present.
It is kind fun when I am with them.

I have even made a vlogmas because of them !
I feel that this video is kind of weird, because I speak mandarin.
But I didn't want them to feel awkward, so I decided to speak a language that they are most comfortable with. And also this video is not for anyone's entertainment, but for our memories <3

Totally enjoyed my day out with them and I already can't wait for another public holiday, which is Chinese New Year :)

Hope you guys enjoy watching it and bye ~

Merry Christmas again ! Hope you guys have a nice day too :)

Hey guy,

I believe that a lot of people have heard a lot of good reviews from Universal Italian Restaurant and yes ! I am going to review whether it is worth the hype.

Okay to be honest, what I am going to write are all based on my opinion and I am not a professional food reviewer. So, please don't get offended if I have wrote something wrong :)

I actually have a pleasant experience in Universal Italian Restaurant and I think that it is a must to go place if you are in Melbourne !

Universal is always busy and there is always a line outside the restaurant.
As you can see, both inside out are full of people, especially when it comes to dinner time.

The bar.
Their cocktail is only $9.90 all day everyday.
So if you are a drinker, you might want to order some drinks over here :)

Check their menu out !

All of their meals are served in a big platter.
If you and your friends are small eater, you can actually share it among your friends.

Slow Roasted Pork Ribs ($34.90)

Slow roasted tender marinated pork ribs in homemade bbq sauce served with Universal's beer battered chips & Italian slaw.

This dish is so good ! It is so easy to remove the rib bone from the meat, with only knife and fork.
The pork ribs are well marinated and juicy, might be one of the best ribs I have eaten.

Chicken Parmigiana ($14)

Handmade chicken breast schnitzel, with Napolitana sauce & Mozzarella cheese, served with Universal's beer battered chips & Italian slaw.

This humongous chicken parmigiana is so tempting ! We saw a lot of people ordering this and the size is so huge. We have no disappointment on this dish because it is so crispy outside and tender inside.
The cheese matched perfectly with the chicken, like seriously ! 10 out of 10 for that price.

Calamari ($21.90)

Gently fried fresh calamari, served with homemade tartare sauce & Italian slaw.

I personally don't really like seafood, but my friend loves this dish so much.
The calamari is well-fried, with crispy outer layer, matched so well with the lemon.

So overall?

Great !
I will definitely visit Universal Italian Restaurant when I am back in Melbourne !
Totally enjoy my visit there :)

Hope you guys enjoy reading it and I will see you guys in my next post !

Bye ~

Last month, friends and I went for a trip to Tasmania 2 days after our finals.
We booked our flight ticket and itinerary on the exam month, which is quite a rush.

Fortunately, all the things went well and I wanted to give a big thank you to our friend, Yi Wen, who planned almost all the thing for the trip <3
Really grateful that she made this trip happen.

So, without further due, let's get started  !

On day 1, we went to Mount Wellington and Russell Fall.

Went to Mures Lower Deck for lunch before we went to Mt Wellington.
The fish is very fresh, and they gave A LOT of chips !

Wellington Park is a natural reserve situated right on the doorstep of Tasmania's capital city, Hobart. The park entrance is free and there is no opening or closing hour, which mean that you can go there anytime.

It is a must to go Mount Wellington, even the way there is not very enjoyable. The mountain road is curvy, but totally worth it !

After Mt Wellington, we went to Mount Field National Park for Russell Fall. The Russell Falls is a tired cascade waterfall on the Russell Falls Creek, which is located in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania. Unlike Mount Wellington, you will need to pay for the vehicle pass, which cost $24 per vehicle to the national park.

The park is all great for every kind of visitors, from family, moderate fit people, and also experienced mount climber. It is pretty easy to reach Russell Falls, with only a great short walk.

We had our dinner at The Standard. By far one of the best burgers I have ever eaten in Australia <3
The outer layer is so crispy and the meat is so juicy !
Definitely will miss this burger when I am in Malaysia.

The next day, we went to Bruny Island.

Bruny Island is Tasmania's premier island destination with a holiday adventure to suit everyone.
If you are coming for a holiday in Hobart and Tasmania, you simply cannot afford to miss spending time on Bruny Island !

We paid for the vehicle ferry to Bruny Island. So if you planned to go there, make sure you check their departing timetable, so that you would not miss it.

Surprise surprise, we did not expect that there is so many thing that we can do in a small island.

We went to Get Shucked, which is an oyster bar restaurant for some fresh oyster. I personally do not enjoy seafood. But the oysters are really fresh and I got to eat 2 oyster for that day.

After that we went to Cheesery and Cafe, which is not far away from the oyster place. They provide pretty good cheese, wine and also jam. But sadly, I didn't buy them back.

Bruny Island Neck Game Reserve! It is a must to go place, if you are at Bruny Island.
The place is so nice and we took tons of photo at the place ! A really worth photo taking kind of place. If you are lucky, you can even see wild little penguins walking around !

We had our lunch at Bruny Hotel. Their pizzas are actually pretty good.
It's probably because we were hungry to death.

Our last destination in Bruny Island is the Adventure Bay.

There is actually one last place that we wanted to go, but we have lack of time, we did not make it on time. We were lucky enough not to miss their last ferry back to Hobart, or not we will have to stay at Bruny Island for a night.

Back to Hobart, we had our dinner at Mezethes Greek Tavern.
We have ordered their Seafood Platter, Meat Platter, Oyster and Pita bread.
To be honest, they serve great food! Even though that dinner is pretty pricey, we enjoy our meal there.

On day 3, we went to Freycinet National Park, including the Wineglass Bay and Hazard Beach. Freycinet is a great place to go bird watching. You may be lucky enough to see a white-bellied sea-eagle gliding overhead or large Australasian gannet diving for food in the ocean.

You will need to pay for a park entry fee of $24 per vehicle for 24 hours at the visitor center.

Had our lunch at Tombolo Freycinet.
And it's fish and chips again because I do not know what to eat.
Guess what ! It's actually kid's meal.

Wineglass Bay. We spent so much time at this lookout because we can't find the perfect spot for us to take a photo with the wineglass. It might just look like a lake, instead of a "wineglass", if you did not take picture with that angle.

AGAIN, I am amazed with the beauty of mother nature <3

I feel that Hazard Beach is one of the most beautiful beach I have ever gone !
The sea water is so blue and clear that I thought it is drinkable water for a second.
We took around 30 minutes to the beach from Wineglass Bay and all the hard works are totally worth.

Despite got some love bites from the mosquitoes and annoyed by the flies on our way there,
I totally fall in love with the place <3

LOOK ! What is waiting for us when we got down the Freycinet National Park.
It's wild wallaby ! Omg, don't you think it is so cute ? It is not afraid of people some more !

BTW, we had our dinner at our airbnb stay, so yea :)

On the last day of our Tasmania trip, we went to Salamanca Market, Mt Nelson Signal Station Lookout, and Royal Tasmania Botanical Garden.

Salamanca Market is a morning market, which opens every Saturday (except Christmas or Anzac Day) from 8am until 3pm. You can find a lot of unique handmade products, including homemade soap, candle, handiwork, craft, art and gourmet produce.

Besides that, if you are hungry, you can even get good food, burger and gelato over there !

Mt Nelson Signal Station Lookout is a very chilly place and good for those who have gone through a lot of hiking and walk. There are some chairs and bean bags on the grass for us to chill and relax. If you wish to have some tea while enjoying the view, there is also a cafe besides the lookout :)

We went to Royal Tasmania Botanical Garden after that. If you are a flower lover or you have not take enough photo for the past few days, go to Royal Tasmanian Botanical Garden !
You definitely will not want to miss the place.

To enter the garden, you have to give some donation, so that they can keep the garden tidy and nice all the time.

Last but not least, I would like to share where we have been staying for the past 3 days.
We stayed at a very nice airbnb place, which is called Woodhurst Delight. The place is really near to Seven Mile Beach, so we got to go there for a while before we leave the place.
We really enjoyed our stay at Woodhurst Delight, and the owner is so good. They provided us some snacks, shampoos, place to BBQ ! We literally do not need to bring anything and just our own clothing to stay in the house. All we need are provided and the price is reasonable!
Super satisfied with the stay <3

So that's all for the trip.
Hope you guys enjoy reading it and find it helpful.
ALSO, don't forget to support my Tasmania vlog !

And I will see you guys next time :)

Love,
CLYL.
